Question: How do I motivate my children to be more active?

Answer:  Here at GHFitKids we know that it can sometimes be difficult to motivate children to be more active, especially with the rising amount of technology. Sometimes it can be a challenge to get kids active and off the couch. Here are some tips for helping your little ones (and your older ones) get moving.
  1. Choose age appropriate activities that will prevent boredom or frustration.
  2. Participate in activities with friends. Making it social can make it more fun for children.
  3. Allow children to explore all areas of interest, expand on abilities and build new skills
  4. Limit screen time, so children must find other things to do.
  5. Consider the child’s fitness personality; whether they are an athlete or lacking interest and ability for activities

Question: If my child has specific dietary needs (i.e. lactose intolerance), will there be significant impact on things like bone development?

Answer: When looking at dietary needs or restrictions, generally speaking, as long as you replace the "common" methods of getting nutrients with an adequate supplement, there should not be significant issues. For example, if your child was lactose intolerance, using a soy, lactose-free or almond alternative to things like milk and cheese, your child can still receive the necessary nutrients without drastically changing diet. However, it is always best to check with your doctor to see if your child would benefit from extra vitamin or mineral supplements.
